Ack ~ I didn't know what I was gonna post for Musical Monday. :(
I didn't want to be too much of a downer...
I've been listening to a lot of music lately in my car rides to see Zoe. Mostly sad stuff, to tell you the truth. But in the car is a time when I'm alone and I can just let it all out. If you ever see me driving down the freeway, chances are I'm probably crying. I do a lot of crying in the car.
I'm actually very positive minded right now, for the most part. But when you have to hold in your emotions all the time, put on a robotic persona and just take care of a situation that should bring you to your knees like it's business, it can start to eat away at you. For me I think that's the hardest part about having a child with mental illness. Holding it all in.
So when I get a chance to let it out, it's a good thing. I take my ride and belt it out in song. Horribly I'm sure, but no one else is there, so who cares.
Then I get where I'm going, I wipe away the tears and march on and try to look around and collect all the little moments that might help fill up the emptiness. But sometimes that becomes exhausting too. And I just need to be sad. For just a little while.
I found this amazing live performance of System of a Down - Lonely Day. Right now it's my favorite "just letting myself be sad for a little while" song.

Well sometimes we all are sad for a little while. But we all have to pull ourselves up by the boot straps and get happy again. Don't stay sad too long. It isn't worth it :) Wonderful song. Never heard them but I liked it. Have a great week ahead :)
(((Hugs))) I don't have a child with mental illness, but I have issues in my life that require the same kind of holding it all in. The car is my place to let it out too.
My favourite stuff for just being sad is seether's One Cold Night album. some of the songs on there have been released 3 times and each time has a different mood, one cold night is the saddest feeling.
I can see why this song moves you to tears...it really strikes just the right cords. Holding things in...ah yes...been there and done that. More times than I care to mention.
Thanks for the music
Hugs

Awwww, sorry you are feeling down.
I know exactly what you mean about belting it all out in the car!! I'm just not alone in my van very much to be able to do it!
Take care.
I have to agree with you, System of a Down is my absolute favorite letting it all out music of all time.
I am so sorry that you are feeling a bit down. We all get that way sometimes and there's nothing like a GOOD CRY to make you feel better. Sometimes you just gotta let it out and that's o.k. (((HUGS)))
I love SoaD.. Think I got this album the day it came out. And of course, listened to that song when times were less than bearable. Hang in there, lovely.
I am so sorry you're bummin Diane I am sending a mega squeeze *HUGS* and blog Love!
Sorry you are doing a lot of crying. I wish I could wave a wand and make all that go away.
Try to have a great day. Big hug. :)
I find that music draws out my emotions and I think it is a good thing. I say, if you are letting it out in the car just let it out. We all need a place for ourselves and a way to release all that ales us.
Oh my friend I am sorry you are sad. I am proud of you for getting it all out instead of keeping it in. I love songs to cry to and sing with. I feel so much better afterwards.. Get a sweet tea and sing on my friend. New song to me thanks for sharing.. love ya..
Unfortunately, nothing's moving me right now. Hasn't in quite awhile. I think my heart is trying to callous itself up some more.
Sometimes a song like this is exactly what we need to feel what's all bottled up inside!
where oh where has mister linky gone...... where oh where can it be?
Oh man, I forgot this week! I even had a song picked out. I'll do better next week :)
